DIY Headboard

I love a beautiful bed! A pretty bed can completely change the feel of a bedroom and make everything much cozier. Recently Kevin and I have been talking about building a new bed. We are finally getting around to doing it and along with us our dear friends Mary and Jordan want to build a new bed for themselves as well. We have invited them down to my parent's house to have a total woodworking day (it's also a great excuse for me to play with the adorable 8 month old baby, Jackson). Dad has all the tools and equipment needed and we are so excited for our newest project.

I love checking out what other creative women are doing and getting ideas. Likewise, when I think I have a neat idea, that can save lots of money, I like to share it with friends too. I love the idea that you can have a gorgeous bed, or any furniture for that matter, and create it by yourself. I need to be better about posting some of the things I have built and restored. It's a goal of mine to be better about sharing that kind of information. To start with here are some DIY headboards created by my family and also a picture of what Kevin and I are working on.

Feel free to be inspired!

This is one that my amazingly talented brother just built. I love the subtle print!
p.s. He also restored the desk at the right of the their bed.

This is a simple headboard to make. This was actually one of my first bigger woodworking projects-with the help of my Dad a few years ago. I have changed the upholstery several times, but I love the natural linen lately.

This is the one in the making. Doesn't it look so cozy? We went through so many pictures of what we liked and disliked, but ultimately loved this one. Restoration Hardware has great upholstered headboards that would be so easy to make! I am excited to see what style Mary comes up with. I can't wait for this to be finished.
